To potential expectant parents who are considering adoption:
Hello,
We are Nick and Kayla. Thank you for taking the time to read through our profile as you consider adoption with us. It is our hope that after learning a bit about who we are, that you gain a sense of our desire to adopt and hopefully bring you some clarity and peace as you make some tough and important decisions.
Early on in our relationship, Kayla shared with me about her desire to adopt, and after a tough diagnosis, having a healthy child was uncertain and she grew up knowing that one day she wanted to pursue adoption. Today I share that desire as well. We eagerly look forward to starting our family through adoption! And while we know this is a big decision, we want to assure you that we will cherish and love your child and respect your unique role in their life should you choose an open adoption.
We want you to know that you are loved, that we will be praying for you as you navigate this chapter in your life, and most importantly that we are incredibly grateful that you took the time to take a sneak peak into our lives through our profile.
Who we are as a family:
Nick is a wonderful husband. He is thoughtful, considerate, loyal, honest, and trustworthy. He values faith, family, friends, and spending quality time with those he cares about. As an introvert he enjoys reading, listening to music, hiking, and playing board games. However, he places a high priority on fellowship with his family and friends. Nick is a warehouse team lead for outbound distributions for a company that sells transport temperature control equipment. He is a good storyteller and enjoys creative writing in his spare time. Not many people know this about him, but he aspires to write his own sci-fi novel.
Kayla is an amazing wife; I couldn’t have been luckier when I met her. She is very loving, kind, gentle, supportive, and smart. Most importantly she is my best friend, and I can’t wait to see her become a mother. In her free time, she likes journaling and finding unique stationary to decorate her journal with. Kayla has always loved Japanese culture, and can often times be found listening to J-Pop while she works. She is one of the most caring women I have ever known and values her friends and family very seriously. Although she doesn’t like to talk about it, she has two bachelor’s degrees but remains very modest about it. Currently, she is working as an accountant for a small company specializing in eye surgery equipment.
Our views on openness in adoption:
Kayla and I wholeheartedly embrace open adoption because we believe that having a relationship with you will be beneficial for everyone and more importantly help the child develop a healthy sense of identity. One of our hopes is that the child will know how much they are loved not only by us but by you as well. While we know that relationships can be complicated, our hope is that our relationship will grow over time.
We are open to regular communication and contact through emails, pictures, phone calls, texting, and face to face visits. We want to work with you and come up with an openness plan that is best for everyone.
