To potential expectant parents who are considering adoption:
Hi there! We are Morgen and Makenna. We want to sincerely thank you for taking the time to read a little bit about who we are and our heart for adoption. We hope you can feel how much we care about what is best for you, your child, and your loved ones through your journey. We pray that you feel God near you and His love for you as you navigate this time in your life.
We cannot begin to imagine how you are feeling in this moment, but please know we are praying for you. We pray that you feel some sort of peace as you make a major decision and have immense support right now. Although we are so excited to grow our family through adoption, we ultimately want you to know we wholeheartedly support you and will absolutely cheer you on in whatever you choose.
Who we are as a family:
We met in our hometown in North Dakota on a school choir trip. We didn’t start dating until college when we were eight hours apart while both in nursing school. After leaving our first date, we both told our families that we found our future spouse. We dated four years long-distance before Morgen graduated and joined Makenna in Minnesota. We have now been joyfully married since 2020 and we truly are each other’s best friend and biggest supporter. We also have a sweet goldendoodle, June, who brings so much joy to our lives!
Makenna works as a labor and delivery nurse at a high risk hospital where she cares for families going through the best and worst moments in life. This is truly her passion and she loves to support moms, babies, and families inside and outside of work. In her free time, she loves photography, crafting, decorating for holidays, gardening, reading and playing music. Morgen is a hockey player, turned hockey coach, turned pediatric ICU nurse who now works in Makenna’s family business as a restaurant operator. He is a hard worker who loves deeply and dedicates his time to anyone in need. His hobbies include golf, maintaining a perfectly manicured lawn, coaching children in sports, theatre, and spending time with our four godchildren anytime he can.
We are very family, friend, and church-oriented individuals. In our free time, we love to spend quality time with others. In the summer, you can find us at our family’s lake cabin boating, swimming, playing games and singing around the campfire. We also love to travel and immerse ourselves in different cultures and traditions. Every Sunday, you will find us enjoying a great cup of coffee, attending our church’s Sunday service, serving our community and making the best memories together.
Our views on openness in adoption:
Openness is something we feel has immense value for a child. We will strive to do whatever is best for our future children, and we believe that includes creating an openness model that honors us all. We understand that this may be difficult to navigate at times, but we hope we can find a level of openness that works for everyone for the best interest of the child. This may look different at various stages in life, and we promise to always respect your input, feelings, and thoughts regarding this relationship. We pray that our future child will always know that love and honesty were the reason behind the decision for openness. We believe that the more people to love a child… the better.
