To potential expectant parents who are considering adoption:
We appreciate your time in reviewing our profile. We cannot imagine how confusing and difficult this time is as you face these overwhelming decisions for you and your precious baby. We pray you are feeling supported and loved wherever you are in this journey. We have deep respect for you and admire your strength. May you know that whatever decision you make will be admirable, and it will be the right choice for your child because it was motivated by your selfless love. God will give you the strength whether you embrace the gift of parenting or adoption. We hope this profile will help you understand us, what our intentions are, and the type of life we would be able to give a child joining our family.
We have always wanted to be parents! God lead us on a challenging journey with the loss of our baby boy before birth. After the loss of Samuel, doors were further closed as we pursued infertility treatments. Through this growing time, we realized more deeply what a blessing it is to be given the opportunity to adopt. We have come to believe that families are created, not born. God is the designer of all families, and we trust his architectural plans for our family.
If we unite on this journey together, we promise to humbly strive to provide your child with a nurturing and loving home and give him or her every opportunity possible. This will include giving them kisses and hugs daily while patching up skinned knees, wiping always tears, and cuddling. They will be shown their Savior, Jesus, and will be encouraged in their faith growth. They will have a home that is financially stable and will always feel protected. As they grow, we will encourage them to be life-long learners and support them in their adventures. We want to foster an environment in which pursuing strengths and becoming who God created him/her to be is possible. Providing the best education possible will be essential. This will begin in our church preschool and continue through a private school in our area. We will continually look for growth opportunities outside the classroom through the culture and community around us. Ultimately, we want them to know that true JOY Is found in the daily life we live in faith while making special memories with the family and friends God brings to us.
Who we are as a family:
We are the K’s. We were married in 2017 and made our home in south-central Minnesota. We were SO excited to start a family. Through the challenges we faced in starting a family, God used this to help us grow stronger together as a couple. In our marriage, we learn daily the importance of self-sacrificial love and how beautiful this can be. As a couple, we enjoy spending time outdoors and engaging in activities like hiking, camping, winter skiing, walking our dog, going to the lake, and biking. We also have a love for Friday movie night, playing games, and watching Minnesota sports. We feel blessed to have been able to go on many travel adventures over the past four years, as we both love experiencing different cultures, visiting family, and exploring the many beautiful places around our country. We are a Christian family and plan to teach through example. In daily prayers, songs, stories, and love; Jesus will be known in our home. We believe it is important for children to find their greatest worth as based on their adoption as children of God. Knowing the unconditional love from God, ourselves, and you will be essential.
Professionally, we are blessed with wonderful jobs and are always amazed at how God uses us to help others. Anita loves nurturing the needs of children as a teacher. In the future, she is looking forward to staying home with our family while providing tutoring and piano lessons from home. Devin has enjoyed owning a successful business while building relationships with clients. He focuses primarily on providing for their insurance needs during critical times of their life.
Family is important to us. Thankfully, our immediate families live within 1-2 hours of us, and we see them on a consistent basis. Our close-knit families enjoy celebrating life with us and we are always looking for an “excuse” to get together. Our church community is also very instrumental in our lives. Whether it is our adopted church family or our biological families we are socializing and supporting through the wonderful and difficult journeys of our lives. They are so excited for us and looking forward to welcoming a new one into our family! This is the amazing support system surrounding us. We are thankful.
Our views on openness in adoption:
We are committed to maintaining an open relationship with you at all stages of your child’s life. We feel that it is important for a child to be able to have connections with their birth family. They should have a right to their past especially when they have questions or medical situations come up. Just looking at our own families, with extended family members, in-laws, and “visitors”; the expanse of family is important. The more people to love you the better.
Our vision of an open adoption is flexible, but we look forward to sending you pictures and letters to let you know what he/she is doing. If you would like to pursue something more open, we would be welcome to this too. Continually maintaining an open relationship is important for us. Yet, we want to always respect your privacy and the life you are pursuing. We know things will constantly change, but we want to work together with you to create a safe, ideal plan for you and your baby throughout this journey.
Yet, whatever you choose, we want you to know that your child will know their roots, that they are loved, and that you will always have a special place in our hearts and your child’s. We want your child to know how selfless you are. You had their best interests in mind when you made an adoption plan. We will be forever grateful for being chosen to raise this special child.
