A Legacy of Steadfast Strength

A Legacy of Steadfast Strength

As Mother’s Day approaches, we prepare to celebrate the moms in our lives and shower them with love for all they’ve done for us. These women have cared for us from the beginning, helped us grow, and continue to love us through every stage of life. Unfortunately birth mothers are not always acknowledged on this day, but they still need to be recognized for their loving choice of adoption for their children. This recognition happens on National Birth Mother’s Day, celebrated the day before Mother’s Day.

Birth Mother’s Day was first celebrated in 1990 by a group of women in Seattle, Washington, who met each other at a birth parent support group. Honoring this day grew out of their shared experience that Mother’s Day can be painful, especially when a mother is not recognized on this day.

At New Life Adoptions, we believe birth moms deserve to be remembered and honored as mothers. New Life Adoptions started hosting an annual birth mother event in 2000 to celebrate and encourage birth moms who have made the courageous and loving decision to place their child(ren) for adoption. Each year we want to honor birth mothers for their brave choice.

At New Life Adoptions, we believe birth moms deserve to be remembered and honored as mothers.

As a social worker who walks with birth mothers through the adoption process I have seen first-hand the bold, courageous, and fierce love that birth moms have for their child. Adoption is messy and hard, but oh so beautiful. It is full of grace and hope. I can look to birth moms to see what true sacrificial love looks like, and we should not take that for granted. It is such a unique privilege to work with women as they make this difficult decision for their child. I believe that by recognizing birth moms, our society as a whole will see adoption – specifically birth parents – in a more positive light.

A Message to Birth Mothers:

Thank you for showing us selfless love and brave sacrifice.

Birth Moms, you are an example of love and courage, not only to your child(ren), but to those around you. Because of you and the plan you’ve made, our world will see the deep love a mother has for her child! Thank you for the loving plan you made in placing your child with a family who will forever hold you in a precious place in their hearts. Thank you for leaving a legacy of Steadfast strength through difficult times and portraying grace in each trial you face. Thank you for showing us selfless love and brave sacrifice.

This is why we celebrate birth moms. We want to remember your journey and your role as a mother who made the loving decision to place your child(ren) for adoption. We hope you will join us in recognizing and celebrating birth mothers like you at our Birth Mother Brunch on Saturday, May 11th at Grace Church in Eden Prairie. A panel of birth moms will share about their personal adoption journey to help unite and uplift those who attend.

We want to remember your journey and your role as a mother who made the loving decision to place your child(ren) for adoption.
