Post Adoption Seminar
September 17 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM
Join us for a virtual Post Adoption Seminar on Tuesday, September 17 at 7:00pm. Our speaker, Rachael Ferguson, will be sharing about the benefits of utilizing Trust Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) with your children. We know that TBRI is a valuable resource for adoptive families, which is why we share about TBRI in our home study process, and it is shared in depth at the Hope for the Journey Conference we offer access to each year.
Rachael is one of the Every Family Program Managers for New Life Family Service’s First Care offices. The Every Family Parenting Program provides tools, relational support and material resources to support individuals on their parenting journey. In her current role, she acts as a Parent Coach, trains staff and volunteers to become Parent Coaches and oversees curriculum updates.
Rachael’s bachelor’s degree is in Orphans and Vulnerable Children, which has equipped her to work with children and families who’ve faced challenging circumstances such as the exiting of homelessness, safe reunification amongst biological family members and the safe transitioning of children into other permanent placements. She is passionate about equipping parents to understand the trauma that their child/children might have experienced, how to safely address behaviors and build healthy attachments, and how to support them in their healing journey.
In this Post Adoption Seminar, Rachael will be introducing a trauma-informed parenting strategy called Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), which is a proven method for enriching the lives of at-risk, vulnerable children, adolescents, and their families. She will be discussing the effects of trauma, how positive experiences with loving caregivers can re-wire a child’s brain for lasting change, tools and strategies that can create emotional and physical safety for a child, and how to keep connection at the heart of the parent/child relationship.
